Oh!!! This was the suggestion I put forward. Freakin' sweet! I just kept thinking: of the three men who are against Rohan and Finn, who is the most likely to be the on that could force Finn to flee in the middle of a grand romantic ball? Sure Marikoth, but why would he be there? Rohan wouldn't invite him if he could get away with it. Not Finn's stepfather, not unless we find out something else that raises his threat level again.

No, the one that would make Finn run from his kingly boyfriend is his own Dad, pissed as shit that Finn ran from the nest to be with that boy that he does not approve of. Mostly to protect his wonderful Rohan.

Now, as to who captures him and sets off a Rirea wide man hunt? I'd toss that up between Marikoth and dear ole stepdad. Possibly in an ill advised alliance that is totally going to bite stepdad in the ass???

Can you tell I like making theories to your stories?

(Or an Auternal fae buddy) to keep him anchored in sanity.
That coment remided me how similar those two are to Aiden/Magnus and Asher^^ I so need to reread dark earth^^ But I discover similaritys to a lot of Rayths couples. How he drans energy and don'T wants to hurt somebody reminds me of Eathan!!! Such a nice mix of our favorite boys!!!!

I am SO in love with this story, Raythe! It is brilliant! I love all the side characters, too! They really add to the story! OMG poor Emma! Finn you need to DRAIN Thomas! I love the destiny between the Heir and the death mage! While I live that Finn has found his father, his father needs to Chill! Dude, Finn isn’t a child! I really hope he loosens up!

What about the horses!?? At least Tempest and Sweetfire are together!

I'm so glad you are enjoying it! I am loving this story myself. Truly enjoying it. Thomas needs to get his comeuppance. Oh, he so does.

Thalanil has complicated ideas about humans now and Rirea.

Tempest and Sweetfire along with 2 other horses are with Ryleth!

Yes, I understand that Thalanil has complicated thoughts and ideas about humans, King Rohan, and Rirea, but I think its all due to a lot of misunderstandings on BOTH sides. For starters, I don’t think Thalanil killed Rohan’s parents. I think Rohan’s uncle knows more then he lets on and I understand how Thalanil wants to hold onto the son he never knew he had. I’m sure he has a lot of mixed emotions related to all of that.

Yes, I know the horses are with Ryleth and I’m sure she will take care of them. I think Ryleth will be a key character in convincing Thalanil about the importance of and why Finn needs Rohan.

I’m sure Rohan is missing Tempest as much as he is missing Finn though.

I have to say I love this story ^-^

Also I think our wolf friend Tyreon might take the place of the fairy god mother, not in getting Finn nice clothes (I'm sure his Dad or some elven tailor will do that) but in lowering the wall or showing him some other way around it so he can go to the ball.

The ball does bring up another issue though, in that what would make Rohan stop trying to get back to Finn for any amount of time? Some psychic dream connection perhaps? Maybe a magic mirror he found in Maeve's things while searching Tanglewood for clues? And Finn finds the one his Dad used to use stashed in a closet or attic somewhere?

Either way I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.

So I really adore this story!!!! You really worked your ass of for it didn't you!!! But it is so worth the wait!!!! I really like how you incorporate elements of the other storys we all so love!!! And still give it a really unique and facinationg spinn!!! I'm normaly not a fan of farytail retellings but your work really is so amazing that even this makes an fantastic story!!!! I really can't wait to see how you will incorporate the ball into the story!!!! I hope we will get some more daddy son moments in the next book^^ Like Finn telling about his childhood ore something similar^^ I wonder if Thalanil has a secret stach of books on Deathmages so that Finn can learn about his powers? I really think his power will be integral for stoping Marikoth and bringing balance back just as Eathen was integral to stopping the fallen!!!! I really can't wait with what other ideas you will come up!!! This book had so many unexpected turns that I agree with the other reviewers that it really was a rollercosater ride and I can't wait for the next one!!!

I would love to be able to read this book, as a fan from Australia, can you tell me how to get it. It is not on the Amazon site here, and the American site just sends me to the Aussie site.

I am absolutely in love with this series.

Spoilers for end of book for peeps who have not read it yet.

I am really excited to see that Thalanil is so protective of his son. We see a lot of emotional turmoil within him about Finn in such a short time. I really do hope Thalanil will come to understand Finn's need for Rohan without having to sacrifice Finn's love to do it. We need a good parent story damn it xD Finn's stepfather was awful!! I really hope Thalanil comes around (and actually makes it to the end of the story alive. I'm looking at you Raythe. THE GOOD ONES ALWAYS DIE XD)

I could very well see Rohan's uncle finding out about the cloak, throwing a ball in which he specifically invites Finn on the premise of some kind of peace with the Fae, and then taking Finn hostage himself against Thalanil.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that Hughes is working with the war king in the background. They kind of just got pushed to the back burner and I feel like they'll be causing a helluva lot of trouble soon O.o

I just got my membership and was really excited to read this but couldn't find it in the library do I have to pay for paperback or the kindle thingy? (since I don't pay for that) I was told it was free but I don't know how to do that without paying for something

The books ARE free for Members but only for a limited time, which is normally the week before they go live on Amazon. So if you want this now, you would have to pay for it or, if you are in KU, you can read it as part of that program.
