Oh boy. To some people this might be a big question. To keep it simple, list your top 5 MUST SEE movies of last year and a brief explanation as to why people should see them if they haven't already.
Mine would be (in no particular order):
1. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World ----- largely underrated Canadian made film (representin') with fantastic acting, hilarious dialogue, and a videogame-like style to it.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 ---- any of my friends know that I'm a bedroom walls covered, action figure collecting, costume gathering Potter nut. It's the best installment of the series so far, in acting, pace, and story (obviously it still has another part to come though). I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, I jumped at the suspense, cried - none of which I've done for HP before.
3. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo ---- the Swedish interpretation is amazing. Naoomi Rapace is her character. The plot is a suspense-mystery sort of "we need to figure out the killer" deal. And yes, there is a Hollywood version in the making. I don't think it'll hold a candle to the Swed's version though.
4. Easy A --- again underrated, Emma Stone is a jem. She's gorgeous, and her comedic presentation is spot on. I would marry her in a heartbeat. You will pee yourself a little while you watch it. It's about rumors and how she ends up handling them (a modern interpretation of The Scarlet Letter). A++ for this one.
5. The Blind Side --- Sandra Bullock has always been a favourite of mine for Miss Congeniality, and she deserved her Oscar for this role. And her ex is a douchebag (but that's besides the point). An amazingly true story about a family that takes in a distraught kid who becomes a famous football star. |
