Hey Raythe,
I hope this finds you and Mew well. Sorry its been awhile. Graduate school has kept me supremely busy. I just want you to know that your updates are probally the best part of my week and I really appreciate you dedication to your work. I finally got around to reading all the chapters you have of Lightless. I had read the first chapter and to be honest it didnt really catch my fancy. And Im a huge comic book fan. I didnt like Nox! LOL! Well, I actually had a little time to myself the other day and was catching up on the updates and decided ,what the hell, might as well read that too. I love Damien, which was weird because I didnt like Nox. I cheerfully dispise Cain and want to put a voodoo curse on his dick so it rots and falls off. Jamie is cute as a button. So now as per usuall you have worked your magic and Im hooked. Looking forward to the next chapter, to watch how Damien and Jamie progress from friends to lovers to enimies. I mean how could Nox ever hate Jamie who is obviously still fighting for him! Just please tell me that Cain meets an extremely firey and painful death.

Fang, I'm so glad that you reposted this here. I was meaning to get back to you at the old forum, but with the new job, new site, new everything it slipped my mind. Besides this one is the forum to use! I'm fascinated by the fact that you didn't like Nox, but you DID like Damien, which actually plays into exactly what I was hoping would happen: to show the differences. But at the same time, I'm not keen that the first chapter made you almost not read the work. That would be a big shame. I don't know if others felt the same. I'm curious if they did. If so, I have to think of what to do about the first chapter to make it more reader-friendly, because I do think that the rest of the work would interest people. Jamie is cute as a button. Makes me want to swoop in there and eat him up. The comment about Cain's dick rotting off has me loling. My poor villain! Lol! I'm going to keep to myself what happens to him. Think of this as the new Justice League and whatever the hell the League of Villains was called. You can already see how many stories there can be about all these different characters. I'm thrilled and honored that the stories make your week. It's been really nice having the comment feature to hear from people both the good and the bad. I'm learning alot about the readers that is so cool. It definitely makes me feel more connected. My favorite superhero is probably Batman. I like dark, conflicted characters who keep nubile young men as their "wards". Lololol! My favorite villain (though not a comic book villain) is, of course, Darth Vader. I adore Batman! I mean all tall/dark/and handsome aside, he's a super hero with no super powers! That just kicks ass with his brains and a whole lot a money. Gotta love it. Im a sucker for the Wolverine. Well, him and Captain America. It wasnt that the first chapter of Lightless was bad, it was more like I just felt thrown in there. And then I wanted to choke Nox and go you are so being manipulated and it hurts my brain that you are obviously on drugs and could possible desire that sonofawhoringbitch Cain. I mean the man was barely mentioned in the first chapter and I could tell he was one those nogoodchildmolestingperverts! It was so sweet that Luce was still fighting for him, still loved him, and desperatly wanted him back. But I wanted Nox to Want to be Damien again, on his own. I almost didnt read it because I didnt want to see them get slowly torn apart, cause I just know Jamie is in for a world of hurt. Cause I dont think anything hurts worse than seeing someone you love hurting and Nox was obviously hurting in the hands of Cain. But now Im hooked and cant wait for the next chapter. The first chapter reminded me very much of a showdown between Luther and Superman if the creators had just givin it up and admited they were lovers as youngmen. It made me go reread Guarding Devil just to make myself feel better. LOL.

Hi guys I don't know if this thread is still being used but when I stumbled across it I felt the need to join in. So here goes...

Batman: Love

Wolverine: Love

Captain America: Not so sure (I didn't come across him much as a kid so I only know the basics)

As for the first chapter of The Lightless I'm afraid I have a very different reaction too Fang. I really loved being thrown in at the deep end. I really wanted to read more and find out how they'd got to that stage. In fact I was a little disappointed that the story didn't carry on in that time line and we didn't find out about the past through flashbacks. Now don't get me wrong I love how Raythe is telling the story in fact it's one of my favourite stories on this site. Then again I'm a total angst fan so that may explains it. :)

Thanks Raven! I couldn't figure out why the story wasn't getting the warmth of some of the others. Some people were telling me that the first chapter was throwing them off, i.e., they feared there would be no happy ending so they didn't want to read it. But then more facts came to light, i.e., that it felt "comic booky" to them. Well, it's supposed to be! Lol! And then I realized that it had everything to do with the subject matter and probably less to do with the first chapter. It is one of my favorites, too, in that it is very different in a lot of ways from the other stories as the two lovers are the same age and power level. This is not the normal EF I put in the novels and that most people respond to. But I realized that I enjoy writing all of them. Some people will like one but not another, etc. So the first chapter will not be changing.

Hi Raythe sorry for the oobly long delay there's been a lot of stuff going on back the *coughs* real world. 0.o Thank god the first chapter is safe I was really worried it would get edited out when I heard some people didn't seem to like it! It's true that some people really like the seme/uke character roles (me included!). But it's nice as a write to try new things and as a reader it's refreshing. As for the "comic booky" feel I can understand why some people may feel that way. Don't quote me on this as I can't remember exactly and don't have time right now to re-read the whole story, but I think it was chapters 8-12 did seem a little to comic booky. That said the chapters before and after where amazing. Don't worry about it, this is after all the first draft and I'm sure any issues will be resolved once the the story is done and people can vioce their views. Don't forget this is still an amazing story but it is a first draft and like all first drafts needs a little polish at the end. I look forward to reading more!
