AUTHOR

demonic elves writer

Raythe

My real name is Catherine, but I've been writing under the penname "Raythe" (phonetic spelling of Wraith = Ghost = Ghost Writer) for years now.  Some of you may know me from my epic Star Wars fanfic, Forbidden, while others of you may have come here based on one of the very pretty ads you've seen around.

The first thing you should know is that I don't consider myself a writer.  I think of myself as a story-teller. Raythe Reign is my campfire and I've drawn you all near with the promise of some really good, scary, sexy, amazing stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat and hot ... under your collar (what did you think I was going to say?).

I started Raythe Reign, because I could not find what I wanted to read out there.  I'm sure a lot of you are like: pshaw!  What?  C'mon, there are millions of books!  Not to mention all the fanfic, etc.  You couldn't find ONE think you liked?  Well, of course, I could.  I could tell you about a ton of authors (both professional and not) that I enjoy and read a lot of.  But they don't necessarily write all that I wish I could read.

I turned to fanfic, because it was the only place where I found any fiction that had sex as a normal part of the story (especially m/m or yaoi, which became a passion of mine).  I call fiction that contains both story and sex without sacrificing the quality of either "adult fiction."  It's not porn nor romance, but its not dry straight fiction either where sex is something that happns off the pages. Fanfic took all the sexual subtext that's in a lot of mainstream fiction and flipped it on top rather than underneath.  I devoured fanfic and experienced a freedom of thought in my reading and writing I'd never had before.

But then suddenly after a few years, I was at the end of my rope with fanfiction.  Why?  Well, after the initial amazement and taste of freedom wore off, I became frustrated with the lack of quality writing and genres of fiction that I liked.  Unless you were into the original fandom, too, the fanfic could be pretty inaccessible no matter how well written.

When I realized that free fiction wasn't cutting it anymore, I decided I had to turn to paid fiction.  I also believed I should support authors of this material by actually paying for it so that quality adult fiction could grow.  I started reading ebooks and went to paysites, too, where it seemed like there was more adult fiction to be found than in the brick and mortar bookstores.  The problem was that there weren't as many choices in adult fiction in the genres of fiction I liked so I found myself at a loss yet again.  So that's when I decided I should write original adult fiction in the genres I wanted and see if there were some others out there who might enjoy it as well.

Since I've written fanfic for years, I know the value of being in close contact with readers.  I also know the pleasure in watching a story develop as a reader myself with a chapter by chapter build up.  I didn't just want to write a book and throw it out there.  God knows, I would get bored writing just one thing.  As you'll see, there are something like 14 different stories ongoing and more being added all the time.  Raythe Reign would give me the community I've found in writing fanfic and the interaction with the reader which would help create better stories.

And that's where you come in.

The whole set-up of this site is to encourage you to interact with me, with the works, and with each other.  You have a suggestion for a pairing, want a story told, have a question/comment/criticism, well let me know!  I want to hear from you.

Now I couldn't do all this alone.  Below is a list of the artists who have or are currently contributing to Raythe Reign.
